Support and Compassion collaborative
We all need a little help from time to time...
Third Saturday of the month at 11:00 am
Welcome all to the Support and Compassion Group. We are a group of residents here at altis with different levels of availability and skills, but we would like to band together to be a breath fresh air to those who may be a bit smothered.
Some ways that this group would like to help-
-Being a friend and inclusive of single, widowed, or new residents to let them know that we are a friendly community and intend to welcome them at events.
-To aid those who are ill or may have recently had surgery with things like;
Taking in trash cans, grocery store runs, pet care, taking people out for walks, sitting with people so caregivers can run errands, sharing meals, or just visiting and having coffee and reading a book with a housebound individual.
-Create a calendar for housebound individuals so if you find a free hour on a random day, you can say hello to a neighbor who wants to chat or have a cup of tea.
-Another focus will be on "Compassionate Supplies Closet," a Medical Equipment Trade. Many of us have a shower seat or a walker that we needed for surgery but no longer need, or perhaps you would benefit from borrowing one instead of purchasing a new one. We are looking to collect Medical Equipment and do a check-out/check-in system similar to a library but for Medical equipment.
-We would also like to organize a group that can aid in bereavement assistance. Being available to lend a hand, send cards, and remind others about the Altis memorial bench.
